Norman D. Means, MD, FCAP

Norman D. Means, MD is the Owner/Medical Director of NOVA Aesthetic Medicine, LLC located in Anchorage, AK. Dr. Means received his A.B. in the Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago and is a 1993 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. He did an internship in General Surgery at the University of Tennessee, which included formal training in cosmetic and reconstructive Plastic Surgery. Dr. Means subsequently completed a residency in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology at the University of Tennessee, during which he received advanced training in the diagnoses of diseases and disorders of the skin. He then went on to pursue a Fellowship in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Dr. Means then completed the Duke University Family Medicine Residency in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In his varied carreer, Dr. Means has had several thousand hours experience in emergency medicine, as well as extensive inpatient and outpatient medical practice. He is licensed in 5 states and has been in practice since 1994. Dr. Means is trained in both medical and surgical treatment of skin diseases, including cryotherapy and Botox injections. Dr. Means is a published medical researcher and has presented his original research findings to the American Academy of Dermatology at their National Meeting. He holds 3 board certifications, in Family Medicine, Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, and is Board-eligible in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking.

Dr. Means is also proud to serve Alaskans as the Medical and Laboratory Director for the Blood Bank of Alaska. In 2008, Dr. Means was elected a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists.


Tammy Means, RN, BSN, MBA

Tammy Means, RN has extensive experience with Intense Pulsed Light and Lasers, having first worked with the Palomar Medilux back in 2004. She then furthered her experience with the Palomar Starlux 300 and Palomar Lux 1540 Fractional non-ablative laser. Tammy now uses the Palomar Starlux 500, the latest generation in permanent hair removal technology. She can often be found assisting Dr. Means with medical aesthetic procedures. Tammy has been providing experienced hair removal services to folks throughout Alaska since 2004. She comes to NOVA with a background in Critical-Care Nursing, having graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and obtaining her Masters in Business Administration from Strayer University in 2005.

Also the Manager for NOVA, Tammy enjoys welcoming new patients to our NOVA Family and providing them with exceptional service and excellent care.
